The Sacramento Chapter of the Links, Incorporated gives scholarships and awards annually to graduating high school seniors of African heritage who exemplify academic excellence and exhibit leadership potential. The scholarship committee administers all chapter scholarships, awards funds and selects recipients. The chapter offers varying amounts of scholarships and awards through four programs.
Scholarship Programs Available
AWARDS UP TO $1000.00 (each)
Marjorie Patterson Scholarship - Awarded in honor of the organizer and first president of The Links, Inc., Sacramento Chapter.
Who May Apply - Any graduating high school senior of African heritage who:
- Has earned a grade point average of 3.0 or above.
- Has career goals that require education beyond high school.
- Preference will be given to those students seeking careers in the performing arts.
John Marshall Memorial Scholarship - Awarded in memory of John Marshall, a SCUSD teacher, who supervised a Sacramento Links project designed to assist at-risk students.
Who May Apply - Any graduating high school senior of African heritage who:
- Has earned a grade point average of 2.5 or above.
- Has career goals that require education or training beyond high school.
- Preference will be given to those students who seek vocational training.
General Scholarships
Who May Apply - Any graduating high school senior of African heritage who:
- Has earned a grade point average of 3.0 or above.
- Has career goals that require higher education beyond high school.
- Plan to major in an area other than the performing arts or vocational training.
Achievers Scholarships & Awards: Limited to participants in the Achiever Program.
Academic Scholarships: Awarded based on grade point average.
Entrepreneur Awards: Awarded based on the total amount of money raised for Beautillion souvenir program ads.
