From the beginning, The Links organization has addressed
its community service concerns in the areas of education,
cultural and civic commitment. Its national program
is designed to accomplish the organization’s goals through
four program facets:

The Arts
The major goals are to:
- Increase exposure to and promotion of various
art forms.
- Enhance appreciation of the fine arts.
- Highlight contributions of African American
artists.

- Art and Soul Festival
- A Weekend with Ernie Barnes – Art Exhibit,
Sales and Educational program
- Charles BIbbs Art Exhibit and Sales
- Three Generations Concert with William Warfield
- Presented Artwork by Betty Saar to permanent
collection of the Crocker Art Museum
Services
to Youth
The major goals are to:
- Implement programs that address the
critical issues and needs of African-American youth and
their families.
- Provide opportunities through which
self-esteem and self-confidence can be nurtured.
- Introduce young people to a variety
of career opportunities.

- Project LEAD - A national effort to assist
at-risk middle school students
National Trends
and Services
The major goals are to:
- Identify those areas where utilization of
resources and skills can make a difference.
- Implement programs that alleviate economic,
political, and social problems.
- Enrich the personal lives of Links members
as well as that of the community.
- Heighten awareness of the problems faced
by minorities and the underprivileged.

International
Trends and Services
The major goals are to:
- Increase awareness among
Links of international affairs and issues.
- Collaborate with other
organizations in sponsoring international programs.
- Provide information
on political, economic, and cultural matters in African
and Caribbean countries.
- Provide school materials
to children in Africa.
- Support international
organizations on the local, national, and international
levels.
- Support foreign guests and students and
encourage participation in international discussions.

- Haitian Medical Supplies Project
- Shoebox Project – School supplies to
Namibia, Africa
- Expanded our Global Vision – Collected
over 300 pairs of used eyeglasses for African countries
- Support for Professionals Analyzing Pap
Smears in Nikuru, Kenya, Africa
